MARS is an industrial grade, high reliability, dedicated multitrack player / recorder that can be installed on any local computer or on a remote server. MARS can be accessed and operated by any browser if running on the same machine or local network, or via internet if installed on a remote server.

The system is designed for reliable operation under extreme conditions, when using high sampling rates, large amounts of data transmission or extra-long project durations that exceed 24 hours of non-stop playback and recording operation. All data is saved periodically so data loss due to unexpected power supply interruptions are kept to a minimum.

MARS offers destructive and real-time non-destructive editing with tools for splitting, trimming, moving, fading, duplicating, and bouncing audio clips with sample-level accuracy. MARS provides precise zoom and navigation for detailed audio control and includes an unlimited undo/redo history list for complete edit traceability.

MARS uses vector graphics to build waveforms that are adjustable, intuitively structured, visually distinct, and instantly zoomable. All waveforms use timecode and upscaled screen resolution to calculate precise positioning across all zoom levels.

The Split Tool makes editing ultra-fast and endlessly flexible - precision cuts with unlimited undo and redo deliver maximum control. And while every edit is non-destructive, any region can be bounced or frozen to apply edits directly to the audio if needed.

The Speaker Preview Tool enables targeted track inspection with instant solo playback and real-time metering. Combining playback control with visual feedback, it provides quick identification and verification of audio content across the timeline.

MARS features a dedicated Fade Editor with comprehensive fade options, including linear, S-curves, exponential, and logarithmic curves. Precise adjustment handles enable sample-accurate control over clip fade-ins and fade-outs, ensuring seamless audio transitions throughout the project.

MARS is an open-source project dedicated to making professional multitrack recording accessible, multitrack archiving reliable, and the recording system forward-compatible enough to withstand major OS updates and maintain operability. Our mission is to create an accessible system - a system that is able to adapt to any workflow and any situation and provide multitrack recording capability from practically any device.

In a large recording studio, MARS could be connected to a mixing console as a dedicated recorder running on a local workstation, or MARS could be used as a cloud app from a phone by a local musician to record the needed solo for the new demo. Whether you're in a recording studio, live sound, location recording, music production, content creation, or your personal studio, we invite you to try MARS and share your experience.

MARS is an open-source system, which means it is 100% customizable. You are free to study, modify, and adapt the code to your needs. If you develop modifications or enhancements that could benefit others, we welcome contributions for potential inclusion in the official release.
